Prost Builders has the reputation of being the "Premiere" renovation and historic restoration contractor, which was built in large part from its extensive restoration work. Such addresses as the Governor's Mansion, State Capitol, Mark Twain's Boyhood Home and Senior Hall at Stephens College are but a few of our accomplishments.
A $4 million dollar complete renovation and restoration of the exterior of Jesse hall, the crown jewel of the University of Missouri-Columbia was completed in 1998, and forms the most comprehensive restoration ever done for the University.
Over 18 miles of brick joints were inspected and tuckpointed, 17 layers of paint were removed, and 85 stones were replaced, some weighing 800 pounds. Over 1100 pieces of ornamental iron and stamped metal on columns, capitals, soffits and frieze were also replaced, along with the entire roof composed of over 300 squares of Vermont slate and 60 squares of single-ply membrane.
Attention to detail, duplication of historic materials and processes, finding authentic replacement parts and duplicating historic mortars are just a few of the necessary skills for quality restoration.
